Abstract:

This research examines the significance of emotional intelligence (EI) in language acquisition and its ramifications for pedagogical methods. Emotional intelligence, characterized as the capacity to identify, comprehend, and regulate one's own emotions as well as those of others, is essential in the language learning process. The study emphasizes that emotional intelligence can improve students' motivation, resilience, and interpersonal skills, hence promoting more effective communication and cooperation in language learning contexts. The study highlights essential components of emotional intelligence-namely self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation-through a review of pertinent literature and empirical investigations, and analyses their influence on the experiences of language learners. The text addresses the obstacles educators have in incorporating emotional intelligence into the curriculum, highlighting the necessity for professional development and the establishment of conducive classroom settings. The results indicate that integrating emotional intelligence training into language teaching can enhance student performance, boost engagement, and foster a more favourable classroom environment. This study promotes a comprehensive approach to language instruction that emphasizes emotional and social aspects in conjunction with cognitive abilities, therefore equipping students to manage both linguistic and emotional intricacies in their interactions.
