Abstract:

This study used the experiences of a few US libraries to explore the difficulties of encouraging innovative thinking and creativity amongst information technology and library personnel in Nigeria. A representative consisting of 70 participants was employed in the investigation. Well-organized, created by I surveys were employed to gather information. The percentages and counts of frequencies have been employed in a quantitative analysis of the information. The study's findings demonstrated the inventiveness and creativity of Imo State Region's information science and librarianship workforce, particularly in the areas of material organization, electronic resources supervisors, and CD-ROM administration. Additionally, librarians in the entire state had a favorable mindset regarding ICT. The results of the research additionally demonstrated which the main obstacles to successful utilization of creative and innovative talents are centers; researchers possessing these abilities ought to be supported and encouraged by organizing activities related to issues like lack of funding for purchasing technology, ICT proficiency, absence at conferences and workshops, unfavorable workplaces, and absence of leadership enthusiasm for the use of library resources. Therefore, it is advised that staff members be given access to conferences and seminars designed specifically for librarians, that contemporary technology be put in libraries, as well as that staff members get data center instruction. The study argues that we have to welcome the changing winds of information and communication technologies if we are to explore and forge viable transformation pathways that will lead to the effective execution of services for libraries.
