Student procrastination in academics is a common occurrence at all academic levels. It involves underestimating how long it will take to finish an academic task, making excuses for doing a task poorly and missing deadlines for crucial chores like submitting assignments, completing projects, getting ready for tests, etc. “Academic Procrastination is the result of a combination of mistrust of his ability to do a task, an inability to delay pleasure, and blame something outside of himself for the abuses that he does” (Bandura & Tuckman in Wattimena, 2013). Most pupils didn't realise they were delaying the work and did so unintentionally. Since students are crammed with different academic assignments that must be finished within the allotted time frame, students frequently fall behind on their assignments for a variety of reasons, including the influence of technology, use of social media, peer pressure, and workload overload, among others. Consequently, identifying and understanding the causes of academic procrastination will aid students in lessening their tardy behaviour. The concept, attributes and reasons of academic procrastination are discussed in this paper. This paper also addressed the topic of students' strategies for overcoming academic procrastination.
