Abstract:

It is a well-known fact that education is a mighty tool to improve the socio-economic conditions of an individual and society. It acts as a reforming tool for ameliorating circumstances, increasing awareness, and promoting healthcare. In India, the Muslim community is the second largest community, accounting for 14.23% of the population of the nation and is the least literate section of Indian society. According to 2011 census, the Muslim literacy rate is 67.60% lower than the national literacy rate of 74.90%. The literacy rate of Muslim women is also far below the national female literacy rate. Therefore, Muslim community faces numerous issues such as low literacy rate, unawareness, poverty, and negative attitude toward girls’ education. Education is the only way to help Muslims understand the issues and make efforts to learn how to resolve the issues. Without smooth functioning of all aspects of society, it is impossible to envisage a country prosperous. Thus, Muslim women education is inevitable part of unlocking the progress of Indian Muslims. There is a dire need to give a special attention to increase enrolment and retention and facilitate modern scientific education to Muslim women. It is a fact that educating a woman brings education to a whole family. This can act as a catalyst to lessen all hurdles to lead an opulent path. The chief objective of this article is to suggest ways to highlight the urgency and relevance of educating Muslim women which can assist in the eradication of poverty, ignorance, and superstitions, choosing the better healthcare and availing the government facilities for women along with focusing on family education.
