In a general context, urban slums represent a blend of urban poverty, infrastructure decay, and socio-economic exclusion. The present research estimated the population profile, literacy rate, employment nature, water and sanitation status, and child health indicators for five slum clusters: Govalak, Morarji Vasahat, Banjaravas, Halpativas, and Ambedkarnagar. Although some clusters, such as Ambedkarnagar, exhibit relatively higher education levels, there is generally a trend suggesting systemic shortfalls, particularly in access to water, job security, and sanitation. By contrasting these findings with existing literature on Indian slums, especially those in Surat city, this study supports integrated, participatory city planning alongside an inclusive policy overhaul.
