Ramananda Roy

Abstract:

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's vision for India's economic progress was holistic. He recognized the need for a multi-faceted approach that would address various facets of economic development. His ideas remain relevant today as India strives to achieve its economic goals. Ambedkar's contributions to India extend beyond his role as the architect of the Indian Constitution. He was a visionary leader who championed economic growth as a cornerstone for national progress and social upliftment. His economic strategy focused on three key pillars: industrialization, agricultural development, and infrastructure development. Recognizing India's agrarian base, Ambedkar emphasized the need to modernize agriculture. He advocated for land reforms, improved irrigation systems, and credit facilities for farmers to enhance agricultural productivity. Simultaneously, Ambedkar understood the transformative power of industrialization. He promoted a mixed economy model where both the public and private sectors would play significant roles. He highlighted the potential of small-scale industries to generate employment opportunities. Infrastructure development was another key component of Ambedkar's economic vision. He recognized the critical role of transportation, communication, and energy infrastructure in driving economic growth. Finally, Ambedkar stressed the importance of education and skill development to create a skilled workforce that could contribute to the nation's economic prosperity. By focusing on these interconnected areas, Ambedkar's economic vision continues to inspire and guide India's development journey.
