The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence has had a profound impact on higher education. Its widespread application poses challenges to human subjectivity, manifested in the weakening of initiative, autonomy, and self-determination of teachers and students. The authors argue that the technological advantages of generative artificial intelligence, the trend of technology supremacy, and the technology-driven educational process collectively led to the weakening of human subjectivity in higher education. The authors propose that the restoration of human agency should be achieved through the return to educational principles, the innovation of teaching methods, and the optimization of institutional design, enabling higher education to coexist harmoniously with artificial intelligence.
