Effective classroom assessment is one of the crucial components in the teaching process and serves as a necessary pathway to achieve the objectives of middle school English teaching. Under the new curriculum framework, English classroom assessment should focus on and promote the development of students' English subject competencies, which presents new challenges for English teaching. However, there are still some issues in current middle school English classroom assessments that limit overall teaching effectiveness. Therefore, this paper, by analyzing and integrating the aspects of classroom assessment in the new curriculum, summarizes previous research findings from four perspectives: assessment language, assessment subjects, assessment emotions, and assessment methods. It also explores corresponding improvement suggestions to enhance the effectiveness of classroom assessment.
