Abstract:
This study investigates the influence of demographic and socioeconomic factors on awareness of All Women Police Stations in Himachal Pradesh, essential institutions for addressing gender-based violence and supporting women. Utilizing a quantitative research design, data was collected from 700 respondents across ten districts through a structured questionnaire assessing variables such as district, residential area, age, educational qualification, employment status, monthly income, and marital status. Employing chi-square and likelihood-ratio tests, the study reveals significant correlations between these factors and awareness of All Women Police Stations. Findings indicate that urban residents, younger and middle-aged individuals, and those with higher educational attainment and income levels demonstrate greater awareness of All Women Police Stations. Conversely, rural populations face unique challenges, resulting in lower awareness levels. This underscores the need for targeted outreach initiatives tailored to specific demographic groups, particularly in rural areas and among individuals with lower income or education. The research contributes to the literature on gender-sensitive policing and offers actionable insights for policymakers and law enforcement agencies aiming to enhance the effectiveness and reach of All Women Police Stations. Key recommendations include launching mobile information campaigns, establishing local partnerships, and integrating awareness programs into educational systems. By prioritizing awareness and education, the study aims to empower women to seek help in instances of violence and injustice, promoting a more informed and equitable society where all individuals can access essential support services.
